Winter is coming Time to turn off your taps!
We hope this message finds you well! As we reflect on our journey at All Day Plumbing, we want to take a moment to express our heartfelt gratitude for your continued support.
Your trust in us means everything, and we are honored to be your go-to plumbing service. Whether it’s a routine maintenance check or an unexpected emergency, we are committed to providing you with the highest level of service.
As we approach the fall and the colder temperatures, it’s time to go outside and enjoy the weather as much as we can before it gets too cold. We also need to protect your house from a potential burst pipe. Burst pipes can happen if you don’t follow the correct procedures with shutting off the water to your outdoor taps. If you have a Frost-free hydrant with no shut off inside, that is normal. This following shut down procedure is for those who don’t have Frost Free Hydrant’s.
Here is a step by step way to make sure you are covered for the winter:
- Shut off the valve inside your house that supplies water to your outside tap. This is typically pretty close or in line with the outside tap.
- Remove any hoses that are attached to your outside tap.
- Open the outside tap all the way till the valve will not open anymore.
- Go back inside to the valve that you shut off. Look to see if there is a bleeder on the side of the valve. This typically looks like a little knob on the side of the valve. Take a cup and hold it under the bleeder. It is normal to have water come out of the bleeder for 15 to 45 seconds. Once the water stops, close the bleeder.
If you follow these instructions, you will be set for the winter! If you read the instructions above and it didn’t make sense, that’s OK! Give me a call and I can show you how to be best prepared for your next winter-time shut down.
For those of you that have a difficult time to open and close your shut off valve, there’s a solution for you!
